Here are a list of common terms we use in the FreightExchange portal and what they mean.

ShippingThe process of getting goods from one location to anotherFreight, cargo, air freight
LabelsDocuments provided by carriers that enable tracking.shipping documents
Pick-UpWhen carriers collect items from the pick-up locationCollection
Pick-Up LocationInformation on where the items are at the address where items are picked-upCollection Address
SenderThe person at the pick-up location who is sending the items
ReceiverThe person at the delivery location who is sending the items
DeliveryWhen carriers drop-off items at the delivery lcoationDrop-off
Delivery LocationInformation on where the items are at the address where items are picked-up
Delivery AddressThe postal address where items are to be delivere
Pick-Up AddressThe postal address where items are to be picked-up
Commercial InvoiceThe document required on all import/export Customs Clearance Form
CustomerThe person who pays for the shipping
InvoiceA tax invoice issued for the freight movement

PalletAn item that is packed and wrapped and ready for shipping.A pallet can refer to a timber platform used to consolidate multiple items in bulk.
Box/CartonUsed to ship small items can can refer to to a cardboard box, carton or satchel
CarrierA company that owns trucks, trains, ships, plansTruckie, Subbie, Owner Driver, Supplier
